Stephen Coleman has launched an RSA-Reuters Institute of Journalism
project:
"The public’s declining trust in the news media is a worrying trend.
The RSA and the Reuters Institute of Journalism are looking at how we
can support the civic function of news. We’re particularly interested
in how professional journalists and Fellows relate to the public’s
ideas about news and what it is for."
Great project - but it is currently behind a login on the RSA Networks
site.
I'm arguing these issues should be discussed in public

I agree David, as I have mentioned on your post within the RSA network. Too
big and important a debate to have behind closed doors. Also, as you have
said elsewhere, it's important to tie this in with other discussions, like
the one about the role of the BBC in all of this.

Yesterday's organisations still want you to pay to join, or create barriers
to entry.
Even radiohead and the tories now say pay as much as you want.
Tomorrow's will be less elitist and more open if they get the trend
