Members of the International Working Group on Online Consultation and Public
Policy Making (IWG), co-chaired by Peter Shane and Stephen Coleman, will be
offering a workshop March 14, 2008 at Ohio State University, entitled,
"Online Consultation and Public Policy Making: Democracy, Identity, and New
Media." About half the group will present and half the group will respond
to the principal papers, including such topics as "Web 2.0: New Challenges
for E-Democracy," "Technology and Inclusion: Framing Online Public Debate to
Enlarge Participation," and "The Diffusion of E-Government Innovations
Across U.S. Municipalities." Tim Erickson of e-democracy.org will offer a
lunchtime talk on "Building Democracy through Local Issues Forums." A

Attendance is free, but participants must register in advance by contacting

College of Law, the Mershon Center for International Security Studies, the
