I am heading up to northern Minnesota to celebrate our efforts thus
far in two of our newer E-Democracy.org's local Issues Forums.
Some related blog posts:

In addition the picnics, I plan to record some interviews with my two
Forum Managers to try and gather a few lessons.
What questions would you add/change?
From:
http://pages.e-democracy.org/Interview_questions
* What initially interested you in the Issues Forum concept?
* What did you do to help launch the forum?
o What steps were easy?
o Which ones were more difficult?
* How did others help with the launch? Who helped forum
recruitment break through?
* What message or method seemed to work best to interest people in
the forum?
* Since the forum opened to postings...
o What has been the most rewarding?
o What has been the most difficult or challenging?
* Imagine you are talking to a potential Forum Manager in a
different community, what are the top lessons or advice you would
share?
* What are some interesting or notable topics of discussion on the
forum thus far? Any stories on the impact of media coverage or value
to the community or decision-makers?
* Looking forward ...
o What do you think you and other volunteers should do to
improve your forum?
o What can E-Democracy.org work to provide (either through
central volunteers or funded efforts)?
Cheers,
Steve

Good questions, Steven. I'd also add:
- Is it important for you that the forum hears from all sections of the
local community, and do you think it does so?
- Are the any issues which make the local news, but don't come up in the
forums? If so, what types of issues are these?
I hope you're planning to share your results with us!

I would ask:
* Which issues have been taken up in formal arenas? (e.g. council
meetings, committees)
** What response was there on those issues?
** Why those issues and not others?
In other words, find out what drove organizations to do something about
issues raised in the issues forums, what they did, and what feedback
they gave.
